Rubi’s Senior Portfolio

MINDSET REFLECTION:
   I am honestly very proud my self, especially being that I am graduating 5 months earlier than expected. I have accomplished and achieve way more in my high school career than an I would have ever thought. I’ve pushed myself harder this year than i have any other year and that in itself is a huge accomplishment for me. I am the first in my family to graduate so I’m very proud of myself for not letting my family down.
   I’m very scared to see what the future holds for me yet I am very excited to see my future and career come together. If I could tell anything to 9th grade Rubi it would be to not stress as hard as I do because mom and dad are very proud of her no matter what happens. I will work hard and study very hard to finish this semester off strong!


CAREER REFLECTION: 
    The career I have chosen to one day pursue is counseling psychology. Psychology is the study of mind and behavior which is something that i've always had a deep interest for. I've always tried to understand individuals and groups in a way that that my friends don't seem to understand. I have a loving passion for helping people and understanding people's thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I learned many things in the process of working on my project.
   I learned that i will be in a very diverse environment which I truly believe I will enjoy. I will be making a difference in the lives of others by helping them cope with everyday living and development.  Practicing Psychologists can help with a range of health problems and use an assortment of evidence-based treatments to help people improve their lives. Most commonly they use psychotherapy which is really talk therapy. A step I have took to further my career was taking a Psychology and sociology class and school with a spectacular instructor. It truly opened my eyes on the amazing science and only made me love the career path I have chosen even more.

COMMUNITY SERVICE REFLECTION:   
   ​​​​For my community service hours, i brought cans of food to Chef Jackson. I feel great knowing that those cans with either go to someone’s project in that class or to someone who truly needs it. Community Service is very important because people need to be less selfish and care more about the people that surround them. If everyone did community service, I promise you that the world would be a much better place to live in.

HOW DO I WANT TO IMPACT THE WORLD?
    Impacting the world was never something I've wanted to do. I want to help people cope with their everyday life and development. I want to impact people's lives in tremendous ways but never the world. I want to help people find happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose. I want to show respect, consideration and thoughtfulness to everyone I meet. I hope the world remembers my face, smiling with a kind word to say.
   I hope they remember me as understanding and listening. Maybe they'll remember me being there for them from beginning to end. Yes maybe being remembered by the world might be great but all I really want is a handful of people to remember me for the great memories we made. I would like that handful of people to remember for being friendly, easy going and even kind of funny.
